The US wind turbine market was dominated by two manufacturers last year. Between them, GE and Vestas provided 85% of turbines installed, leaving Germany’s Siemens — previously a US heavyweight — with only a 10% market share, and other OEMs carving up just 5% between them.

Worse yet for the European turbine makers (aside from Vestas) competing in the US is that the dominance of the top two suppliers is unlikely to change soon, according to data on under-construction projects from the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA).
