The New England Aqua Ventus I floating offshore wind project this week survived a committee vote in Maine’s legislature that could have led to its demise, leaving the landmark project eligible for $40m in federal funding and on track for completion as soon as 2019.

The 12MW Aqua Ventus I would be the first commercial-scale floating offshore wind project built in the US, potentially paving the way to offshore wind development in deeper waters across the continent – including places like California and Hawaii.
