Spanish joint venture Navantia-Windar has loaded-out the first two spar foundations for Statoil’s 30MW five-turbine Hywind Buchan Deep floating wind project off Scotland, from the contractor’s La Coruña yard in Fene, Spain.

The pair of 3,450-tonne cylindrical steel hulls, which measure 91 metres long with a diameter of 14.8 metres, will be followed by the remaining three structures “at the end of May and the first half of June”.
