Tumbling costs of power in Europe have put offshore wind firmly on the agenda in India, where leading figures in the renewable energy industry told Recharge they are pressing the government to introduce a feed-in tariff (FIT) to help kick-start the sector before quickly moving to tenders.
Sumant Sinha, CEO of India’s largest renewables developer ReNew Power, said recent auctions in European waters have made offshore a viable contender in a country that wants to rapidly add large volumes of renewable capacity.
