Floating wind power pioneer Principle Power has inked a collaborative agreement with Japanese industrial conglomerate Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (MES) to push the sector ahead off the Asian island nation and wider offshore region via “multiple project development activities”.

The tie-up builds on the business relationship established for the design of a WindFloat floating wind turbine – carried out for government-run New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organisation (Nedo) – to be deployed in Japanese waters, which was approved by classification body ClassNK last year.
