The US is set to install about 59GW of wind in the 2017-26 period – 40GW of it in a pre-2020 PTC-fuelled boom – said consultancy MAKE in its latest North America Wind Power Outlook.

MAKE – which also forecasts 2.2GW of offshore wind installed during the same period – said the full-value of the key US federal production tax credit (PTC) incentive will spur “the largest four-year wind installation total in US market history” between now and 2020.
