Three Massachusetts electric distribution companies will initially seek 400MW of offshore wind energy but will consider procurement of up to 800MW under a draft request for proposals (RFP) sent to state regulators for approval.

The 109-page draft was written by the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER) and distributors Eversource, National Grid and Unitel, who will act as a team to evaluate bids submitted in response to the state’s first offshore wind RFP that they want to issue on 30 June.
