Brazil’s National Development Bank (BNDES) has approved a R$679m ($217m) loan to the local unit of British investment fund Actis to build a 207MW wind power project in southern Brazil.

This is the third loan approved by the bank for wind power projects since the beginning of 2017, adding up to just over R$1.5bn.

Actis’ local venture Atlantic Energias Renováveis won contracts for the Santa Vitoria do Palmares wind complex at the A-3 tenders in 2013 and 2014 with total investment estimated at R$1.2bn,
