Brazilian electric equipment group WEG has announced plans to manufacture its 2.1MW wind turbine in India, tapping into the Asian country’s ambitions for a 5GW to 6GW a year wind power market.

WEG – which has industrial facilities in 11 countries – also has plans to start supplying the same wind turbine in the South African market soon, with some components manufactured in the country, wind power director João Paulo Gualberto told Recharge at the Windergy event in New Delhi.
