Installation of the giant substation at the heart of E.ON’s 400MW Rampion project has been completed, following heavy-lift operations at the wind farm off the coast of Sussex, in southern England.

The 2,000-tonne topsides, built at Babcock’s Rosyth base in Scotland, was transported over a distance of 500 nautical miles to the project site before being lifted into place in 20-40 metres of water by Belgian contractor Scaldis’ Rambiz crane vessel.
