The US tax authority has approved an inflation adjustment increase for the federal production tax credit (PTC) for wind for electricity sent to the grid this year from qualified projects to $24/MWh from the earlier $23/MWh.
The PTC can be claimed by project owners for the initial decade of electricity sales. The higher subsidy applies to both qualified power sales this year from new projects as well as those that entered service during the prior 10 years.
