Engaging communities in Thailand is “essential” to ensure renewable energy projects can move forward, local experts said, after action against developers over land rights delayed more than 700MW-worth of wind projects.
Thailand is considered by analysts to be a “hot spot” for investments, with the Bangkok government calling for a combination of solar, wind and biomass to provide 25% of electricity demand by 2021.
