Scotland’s energy minister has called on the UK government to ensure “an appropriate support mechanism” is in place to unlock major wind farm projects on Scottish islands.

Paul Wheelhouse met with UK energy secretary Greg Clark earlier this week, when the pair co-chaired the fifth meeting of the Scottish Islands Renewables Delivery Forum in Stornoway.

Discussions focused on a recent consultation, which Scottish ministers said “backtracked on support for wind projects on Western Isles, Orkney and Shetlands.
