Offshore wind production from the German part of the North Sea transported by transmission system operator TenneT last year jumped 47% and reached a record of 10.83 terawatt hours, enough to theoretically cover the electricity needs of Berlin, Hamburg and Bremen.

“Offshore with that clearly has reached the fast lane and continues to have good prospects, because the future tendering model for offshore wind parks should contribute to lower electricity costs and make offshore power competitive,” says TenneT board member Lex Hartman.
