The first Adwen AD8-180 is in final assembly in the German port city of Bremerhaven, with expectations the 8MW model will move into serial production next year for its flagship project, the 500MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm being developed by the Iberdrola-led Ailes Marines consortium in the French Atlantic.
The prototype’s nacelle has now completed all pre-commissioning tests and has been connected to the hub, while three of four tower sections, including the one housing the machine’s power electronics system, are in place.
