A super-sized 88-metre blade designed for Adwen’s 8MW AD8-180 offshore wind turbine platform will be rigged up for final trials at the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult’s testing centre, following its arrival in Blyth, northeast England.
The 33-tonne hybrid glass-fiber and carbon design is calculated capable of boosting annual energy production (AEP) by up to 6% by trimming weight at the "static moment" by up to 20%.
