US independent TPI Composites has entered into a long-term agreement with Spain’s Gamesa to supply wind blades in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region, deepening its ties with the OEM amid imminent major restructuring in the sector.

Financial terms were not made public for the deal, under which TPI will supply blades through to 2022 from two lines at its newly-constructed manufacturing facility in Izmir, Turkey.

The deal comes with Gamesa on the brink of completing an industry mega-merger that will see it combine with the wind business of Germany’s Siemens, while TPI’s rival blade supplier LM Wind Power is set to be acquired by GE.
