The European Commission has found that the support to be granted by Denmark’s government to Vattenfall’s 600MW Kriegers Flak offshore wind farm, is “in line with EU state aid rules”.

The EC said the giant project, to be built in the Danish Baltic, does not distort competition.

Commissioner in charge of competition policy Margrethe Vestager said: "The Kriegers Flak offshore wind farm will help to cut carbon dioxide emissions while the support is carefully designed to avoid distorting competition in electricity markets.
