The first of 61 Siemens turbines have been installed at the onshore Khobab wind farm in South Africa, Ireland’s Mainstream Renewable Power (MRP) said.

It is now anticipated that the 140MW project will start exporting power within three to four months and that the wind farm is to start supplying electricity to the national grid by end-2017, as part of the third round of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP).
