German industrial group Siemens has signed a co-operation agreement with Japan’s Sumitomo Electric to supply southern India with a high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission system, in what the two hope will be the start of a wider global relationship.
The companies won an order worth about $520m from operator Power Grid Corporation of India to supply the 200km Pugalur-Trichur transmission link.
