Dutch, Danish and German transmission system operators (TSOs) have inked a deal to build a giant converter station on an artificial island that would channel some 70-100GW of generation from arrays of offshore wind plants into countries bordering the North Sea.

The formal signing of the agreement by the TSOs to develop the North Sea Wind Power Hub (NSWPH), which took place at the North Seas Energy Forum in Brussels, was witnessed by European Commission vice-president Maros Sefcovic.
