With 142,900 direct and indirect jobs, the wind power industry in 2015 continued to be an “indispensable” employer across Germany, fresh figures compiled for German wind groups show – providing valuable facts to counter threats by populist politicians trying to derail the energy transition. 

Jobs in onshore wind fell slightly in 2015 to 122,400 from 130,500 a year earlier, while those in offshore wind rose to 20,500 from 18,700 in 2014, an analysis by the German society for economic structural research (GWS) shows.
