A joint venture consortium of developers plans to build 900MW of wind capacity in northern Norway in what it claims could be the first subsidy-free development of its type in the country.

The JV – called Grenselandet and formed by Finland-based St1 Norge, and local players Vindkraft Nord and Ny Energi – will start early development work on the 700MW Davvi and 200MW Borealis wind farms, to be sited in the Lebesby and Tana municipalities in Finnmark county.
