Floating wind power pioneer Hexicon's innovative twin-headed Dounreay Trì demonstration unit, on track for installation next year off Scotland, will be built with 5MW turbines from HZ Windpower, marking the maiden outing of a Chinese turbine in European waters, Recharge has learned.

Two of the OEM’s HZ-127-5.0s, a geared design launched at the Rudong test site off China in 2012, will be mated to an innovative steel semisubmersible foundation for mooring in 90-100 metres of water in the North Sea, 6km off the Dounreay nuclear power complex.
