The two links – off northwest and eastern England respectively – represent the second stage of the fifth tender round of the offshore transmission owners (OFTOs) regime.

The portal for this tranche will be open for submissions for the two projects for eight weeks. Ofgem will publish bidder shortlists for each project during the summer.

Ofgem, which runs the tender process, will choose the most competitive bids from companies to own and run links to the offshore sites over a 20-year period.

The launch of the second stage of the fifth tender round comes after Ofgem announced the shortlisted six bidders for the first phase of the tender round earlier this month.
