Germany-based wind OEM Senvion today announced plans for 780 job losses as part of “an extensive programme to secure the company's long-term competitiveness”.

In its statement announcing the planned job cuts Senvion said “wind turbine makers are under strong price pressure and dealing with a shift in demand from established markets to growth regions in South America and Asia”.

The job cuts – already flagged by trades unions, although more severe than they feared – will mostly be at Senvion’s plants in Husum, Trampe and Bremerhaven in Germany, Senvion said in a statement.
