The US is forecast to add 35GW of new wind capacity during the 2017-20 period, expanding the country’s existing 82GW wind fleet by 40%, according to a new analysis from  market researcher Navigant Consulting undertaken for the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA).

The US will install 7,839MW of wind capacity this year, down slightly on its 8,203MW performance in 2016, before rising steadily to a 10,182MW of new installations in 2020, predicts Navigant.
