Leap Green Energy – the Indian renewables operator backed by JP Morgan – will boost its portfolio to 762MW after agreeing to acquire 260MW of wind farms from Inox Renewables.

The deal makes Leap Green Energy, run by Indian Formula 1 motorsport star Narain Karthikeya and his family, into one of India’s largest renewable IPPs, said a statement.

The company is now aiming for an installed base of 2GW by 2019, joining the growing number of domestic and overseas companies seeking a slice of the action in India’s burgeoning renewable energy sector.
