Brazilian industrial group WEG will this year kick-off this plans to sell its direct-drive 2.1MW AGW110 wind turbine in emerging markets such as India, Africa and other Latin American countries, following its acquisition of the utility-scale business of US turbine maker Northern Power Systems (NPS) last year.

“The acquisition is concluded, and now we have a technology committee with Americans and Brazilians discussing the development of the project [and] aiming for further efficiency gains,” João Paulo Gualberto, head of WEG’s wind power division told Recharge.
