Siemens is collaborating with US firm SkySpecs for the use of automated drones in offshore wind turbine inspections, in an effort to lower operating costs.
The German industrial firm through the partnership wants to refine its technology for utility-scale wind turbine inspections and prepare it for commercial readiness, SkySpecs said, adding that the inspections lower operating costs substantially, and potentially also increase the efficiency and lifespan of wind turbines.
