French energy giant Engie and global automation group Schneider Electric will co-operate over the development of new digital systems to boost the operational efficiency of renewables plants, the two companies said.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) will see the pair explore options based on Schneider Electric’s Wonderware brand among others.

Engie executive vice-president Didier Holleaux said: “Engie’s objective is to develop remote supervision and control of its global renewable energy production assets, and possibly other energy assets as well, to optimise their performance.
