The UK Carbon Trust’s Offshore Wind Accelerator has kicked off a new £2.4m ($3m) scheme aimed at further cutting the cost of offshore wind power by honing the way steel jacket foundations are fabricated.
The Improved Fatigue Life of Welded Jacket Connections (JaCo) project is designed to give insight into fatigue performance by testing full-size jacket nodes made using the current manual welding process as well as a novel automated technique.
