Zurich utility EWZ together with Swiss asset manager Fontavis has bought a 25% stake in the 200MW Trianel Windpark Borkum 2 (TWB2) offshore array in the North Sea, one of the last projects in Germany still due to be built without the support level being determined by tenders.
The Trianel network of municipal utilities and northern German regional utility EWE hold the remainder of the project in equal stakes, and have said they expect to take a final investment decision on the extension project during the first half of 2017.
