The lead-off turbine at developer Iberdrola's Wikinger project in the German Baltic Sea has been erected, with expectations that the 350MW wind farm will ramp up to full power export later this year as scheduled.
Installed by Fred Olsen WindCarrier's Brave Tern jack-up, the 5MW Adwen 5-135 machine is the first of 70 making up the €1.4bn ($1.48bn) development, located off the northeast coast of Rugen Island in 37-43 metres of water.
