Dutch network operator TenneT has handed contractor HSM Offshore a deal to build the first transformer platform needed to link the Netherlands’ Borssele wind farms to the onshore grid.
The initial contract covers construction of the Borssele Alpha platform, with Schiedam-based HSM Offshore also lined up as the preferred provider of the Borssele Beta structure.
The platforms will connect the first wave of wind projects awarded under the Dutch government’s offshore wind tender programme.
