French developer Quadran will launch an environmental impact assessment for its landmark 24MW EolMed floating wind power demonstrator in the Mediterranean Sea, following the award of a contract to Axys Technologies to deploy a first metocean data buoy.
The Canadian outfit’s WatchKeeper unit, selected by EolMed project partner Créocéan, will collect information on wind speed and direction, air temperature, relative humidity, barometric pressure and directional waves at the site, located in a zone some 15km offshore of Port-La Nouvelle and Gruissan.
