International consultancy giant DNV GL has unveiled plans to launch a "big data" platform for the energy industry designed to answer emerging data quality and management issues linked to control of increasingly vast volumes of digital information.
The new system, dubbed Veracity, is being developed with Microsoft Azure and "several industry leaders on big data projects" with a view to cutting downtime, improving safety, and honing predictive maintenance, performance forecasting, energy efficiency and real-time risk management.
