Germany dominated as the EU connected 12.5GW of new wind power to the grid last year – a 3% fall on 2015’s figure – according to data from industry body WindEurope, which flagged its concern over the huge variations in investment seen across the bloc’s member states.
The EU hooked up 10.92GW onshore and 1.57GW offshore, bringing its cumulative wind capacity to 153.7GW
