Germany’s Enercon has commissioned its first prototype of the low-wind 4.2MW E-141 EP4, which has now been installed on a hybrid tower in Coppanz, Thuringia.

With its 141-metre diameter, the rotor blade of the E-141 EP4 is the longest to be found on the onshore market, Enercon says. The turbine is designed to generate more than 13GWh annually, making it the world’s highest yielding wind class III machine, according to the company.
