Japanese-Danish OEM MHI Vestas has unveiled an uprated 9MW version of its V164-8.0 offshore wind turbine, following record-breaking performance trials in western Denmark.
The company revealed that the prototype installed at the Østerild test centre set a new energy generation record for a commercial offshore wind turbine last month, producing 216,000 kWh over a 24 hour period, proving the machine’s higher nameplate in “specific site conditions”.
