European offshore wind grid-connections will beat 3GW this year as the UK sector returns to full swing after a 2016 lull caused by consenting delays, predicted industry body WindEurope.

Growth in Germany, Europe’s number-two offshore market, will continue thanks to a high number of projects that started construction in 2015, said WindEurope.

Belgium will also add capacity in 2017, and annually to 2021, at Nobelwind and two other sites that were awarded support last year.
