Dubai investment group Abraaj is buying a majority stake in a 50MW wind project in Pakistan as a first step to tap into the country’s “attractive renewable policy framework”.

Abraaj will advance the project in southeast Pakistan as part of the Jhimpir wind corridor, where it said 550MW is already in operation and another 1GW under development.

The Abraaj project will use GE wind turbines, with the US group also providing O&M services.
