Iberdrola-owned developer ScottishPower Renewables (SPR) has tapped France’s Nexans to deliver the export lines for Britain’s giant 714MW East Anglia 1 (EA1) windfarm.

The €180m ($192m) job, for which the French cabling outfit has subcontracted installation to DeepOcean, encompasses twin 85km high voltage direct current (HVDC) submarine cables with embedded fibre optics to connect the 102-turbine project to the UK grid.
