Dutch-German transmission system operator (TSO) TenneT has plugged in the export line linking the 402MW Veja Mate offshore wind farm with the Borwin2 converter station in the German North Sea, cable supplier Prysmian reports.

The interconnection, made up of two 155kV high voltage alternate current (HVAC) submarine cables, will carry production from the project, developed by Highland Group, Siemens Financial Services and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, some  11km to Borwin2, where AC production will be converted to direct current before transmission to the mainland via an 800MW high voltage direct current (HVDC) link.
