Dutch wind turbine designer 2-B Energy has secured approval for installation of its prototype two-bladed 6MW offshore machine in Scotland.
The license, granted by the Scottish government, allows 2-B Energy’s subsidiary Forthwind to proceed with the second stage of the Forthwind Offshore Wind Demonstration Project, with erection of two in-house designed 2B6 wind turbines at Methil in Fife.
The turbines will provide the first offshore test of 2-B’s technology, advancing from onshore testing undertaken at Eemshaven, the Netherlands, where a 2B6 turbine delivered its first power to the grid in December 2015.
