France speeds up wind additions to 1.56GW in 2016 as Vestas leads

France sped up new wind installations in 2016 to 1.56GW, from 1.04GW in 2015, amid a more stable regulatory framework that includes a support mechanism in place since 2014, the French wind power association FEE said.

That brought the country’s cumulative wind capacity to 12.07GW at the end of last year.

"The efforts achieved over the past several years to stabilise the economic and regulatory framework for wind power are bearing fruit,” said FEE president Olivier Perot.
