International certification body DNV GL has anointed Siemens' upscaled 8MW offshore wind turbine, the SWT-8.0-154, with prototype certification, clearing the way for erection of a flagship unit for final performance testing before the machine is brought to market.
The certification, which confirms all relevant safety features on the turbine according to the Danish Executive Order BEK 73:2013 and IEC 61400-22, means the German OEM can now install the prototype at the Danish national test centre for wind turbines in Østerild.
