Germany’s Central Command for Maritime Emergencies (CCME) yesterday has removed a sea mine found in the area of Dong Energy’s 582MW Gode Wind offshore wind farm in the German North Sea, which was later blown up safely.

The mine had been detected on Jan. 10 by a security vessel cruising the offshore array.

Due to bad weather, the mine couldn’t be blown up at sea, and had to be brought to the Jade River mouth near the port of Wilhelmshaven, where an unexploded ordnance (UXO) clearance unit of the state of Lower Saxony carried out a controlled explosion.
