Southern Power has acquired Invenergy’s near-finished 276MW Bethel wind farm in Texas, pressing ahead with its historic expansion in the US renewables market.

The Bethel wind farm, located in the Texas Panhandle, is in the commissioning phase, and will sell most of its power through a long-term off-take agreement with Google Energy. The project uses 120 GE turbines.

Chicago-based Invenergy, a leading US renewables developer and operator, will stay on to run and maintain the wind farm upon its completion.
