Danish utility Dong Energy has placed a multi-million pound order for 96 transition pieces for monopile foundations at its giant 1.2GW Hornsea 1 project off the Yorkshire coast from compatriot supplier Bladt Industries.

Dong stressed that the large order will safeguard around 200 jobs in Teesside, northeast England, for about one year, as 56 of the pieces will be manufactured at the Offshore Structures Britain (OSB) facility in Haverton Hill near Billingham, while the remaining will be produced at Bladt’s facility in Denmark.
